Dear class,
I am out of town today. It is important that you read the below information on your assignment. You will be responsible for your individual portion as well as the class portion of this assignment. You have a 90 minute class and should have enough time to complete this assignment....Have fun and I will see you Monday...
We just spent a class period looking at McDonald’s original menu and current menu. We talked about the trends/changes we noticed in the two menus such as: higher prices, longer hours, healthier options, chicken added, more variety, international locations with different choices, breakfast, etc.
We talked about how all of these trends boil down to the fact that companies are trying to compete, satisfy the customers’ changing needs and wants, and the fact we live in a Global Market now.
What I want you and a partner to do now, is look at the current McDonald’s menu. Brainstorm a list of what changes you think might occur to McDonald’s over the next 20 years. What trends do you think will lead to those changes? Remember, this is not a specific food item that should be added to the menu, it’s more general than that. For example, in the future you might walk into a McDonald's and see the calories in each item posted on the menu board with the name and price.
After you have your list, I want you to go around the room and ask everyone else if they agree with the change. Do they think it will make McDonald’s more successful? Count how many people say yes and no.
When everyone is finished, compile a list of everyone’s ideas together and find a creative way to present the ideas to me.
Suggested time schedule:
Warm-up: 5 mins
Pick your partner and get situated: 5 mins
Work with partner brainstorming future McDonald’s ideas: 40 mins
Survey class about ideas: 10 mins
Compile all ideas as a class and come up with creative, attractive written format to present it: 30 mins

I will not be here today. Remember the deal we discussed! You have an assignment that should not take you the whole class period. Make sure that you complete that. Then, you will put it in the box and have free time. Free time does not include watching videos, listening to music, or playing games. These are against WHS rules. You may email, work on homework for other classes, or surf the net.
Assignment: After you complete your warm-up, please pick up a copy of the Wall Street Journal from the round table. Read the article “The Voice of the Customer” on pages 6-7. After they read the article write a one page essay addressing the following things:
*There are several companies mentioned in the article. What are they doing to improve customer relations?
*How does this tie into marketing?
*What do you think is the most important part of customer service?
Please make sure you are in your assigned seats. The sub has the seating chart!
